Emily Tindall was born about 1861 in Bendigo, Victoria.
She married George Patterson, a bootmaker, in 1878 in New Zealand and they had nine children.
When Emily signed the suffrage petition the family were living in North East Valley, Dunedin.
Emily died on 25 March 1921 and George died in 1934, they are buried with one of their daughters in the Northern Cemetery.
