Mary Ann Geddes was born about 1830 in Ireland.

She emigrated to New Zealand about 1880 with her husband Robert, a farmer, and their six children.

They settled in Caversham, Dunedin where Robert died in 1888.

When Mary signed the suffrage petition she was living in Maria St, Caversham.

She died at her home on 23 July 1895 and is buried with Robert in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
