Euphemia Malcolm was born about 1861 in Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland – the daughter of David Malcolm, a cotton weaver, and Hannah.
She married John Gray ,a bootmaker, on 6 August 1869 in Aucherarder and they had two children, one who died in infancy.
The family emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Parsee and they settled in Dunedin where they had a further eight children.
When Euphemia signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Albany St, they later moved to Great King St where Euphemia died on 18 March 1916.
John died in 1926 – they are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
