Louisa Frances Frederica Robertson was born in 1848 in Sunderland, Durham. The daughter of Charles Robertson, a master mariner, and Margaret Brown. Louisa’s father died when she was 10 years old and she first lived with her widowed mother then worked as a domestic servant before she married Daniel Clapham Lowden, an engineer, in 1872.
Daniel and Louisa had two children in England before they emigrated to New Zealand. In 1879 they arrived in Dunedin on the Taranaki along with Daniel’s extended family and Louisa’s widowed mother, who was living with them in Bathgate St when she died in 1900.
Daniel died in 1923 at 26 Baker St, Caversham and Louisa died on 11 December 1929. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
