Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley:

Margaret Tunnell was born in Alexandra, New Zealand about 1866 – the daughter of John Tunnell, a brickmaker, and Margaret.

On 4 January 1886 at All Saints Church, Dunedin Margaret married Bennett Charles Lowry, a lithographer. They had four sons, one dying in infancy. In the mid 1900s the family moved to Lake Taupo where they ran the Terraces Hotel, then about 1915 they moved to Hamilton.

Margaret died on 10 January 1932 in Hamilton and Bennett died in 1940. They are buried together in the Hamilton Cemetery.
