Gertrude Eleanor was born about 1864 in Cape Town, South Africa. She married Earl McIntosh Robertson and they came to New Zealand about 1882.
When Gertrude signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Maitland St, Dunedin, with the first five of their 11 children. Earl worked as a traveller then later as a clerk. Gertrude died on 13 June 1932 and Earl died in 1948. They are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
