Helena/Ellen Robinson was born about 1848.

She married Captain Samuel Hatfield in New Zealand in 1864 and they had seven children, one who died in infancy. They later also adopted a son.

The family were living in Brown St, Dunedin when Ellen signed the suffrage petition.

She died on 26 August 1894 and is buried in the Southern Cemetery.

Samuel moved to the North Island and took up farming. He died in Auckland in 1921, he is buried in the Ohakune Cemetery.
