Isabelle Annie Connell was born about 1847 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Connell, a Government official and one of the earliest settlers in Auckland, and Isabella.
She married Henry Edward Williams, an insurance manager, in 1872 in Auckland and they had six children, one who died in infancy.
The family moved to Dunedin in the early 1880s and when Isabelle signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Eglington Road.
She died at her home 'Claremont' on 8 June 1917 – Henry died in 1923, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
