Sarah Hambleton was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Hambleton, a joiner, and Sarah Jane Sinkinson.
Sarah had a son, Arthur, in 1890 and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Maria St, South Dunedin.
She married Donald Fraser on 19 February 1896 at St Andrew’s Church, Wellington.
Later that year, on 17 December, Sarah died as the result of childbirth, her son was stillborn.
Sarah is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
Her son was brought up by parents, Donald’s life after this is unclear.
