Catherine married William Henry Ferens, a mail clerk, on 15 October 1885 in Lyttleton, they settled in Dunedin and had five children.

When Catherine signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Rattray St, either with or near her sister Minnie. (See 55 M Gilmore)
