Sophia Dawson was born about 1843 in Scotland.
She emigrated to New Zealand in the early 1860’s where she married James Greig, a carter, in 1868.
They had 10 children, one who died in infancy and when Sophia signed the suffrage petiton the family were living in Union St, Dunedin.
Sophia died on 31 January 1912 and James died the following year – they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
