Susannah Scullin was born in Ballyscullion, Londonderry, Ireland and came to NZ as a single woman with her brother, Philip on the "Helen Denny" in 1875. She ran a shop in Hastings rd, Napier. In 1895, she held an art union to raise funds for a "Home for Friendless Women" that she wanted to start. (I don't know if it actually was created in the end!). She died in 1914.
