Just One Week: Holocaust Centre of New Zealand

Just One Week [#justoneweek]

Just One Week is a new, secondary school teaching resource developed by the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand. It tells the story of the Holocaust through the lives of three survivors who eventually made their way to New Zealand after the end of the Second World War, such as Bob and Freda Narev.

Chris Harris, Chief Executive Officer at the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand, believes Just One Week [#justoneweek], can:

Educate students about the very real impacts that discrimination and antisemitism have had on Jewish lives and the realities of their experiences during the Holocaust.

The need for this resource is highlighted by the results of a 2019 survey conducted on behalf of the Holocaust Memorial Trust. Of 1,000 New Zealanders surveyed, 70% of Interviewees had little to no knowledge of the Holocaust, with a little more than a third of respondents believed the Holocaust to be ‘exaggerated or a myth.’
