Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Lavinia Stubbs was born in 1864 in Beeston, Yorkshire, England – the daughter of Francis Stubbs, a brass founder, and Mary Ann Pennock.
Lavinia came to Otago with her mother and siblings in 1887 on the Ruapehu. Her father had arrived earlier. Her sister Florence also signed the 1893 suffrage petition.
Lavinia married John Bond, an iron moulder, in 1891. They had 10 children and lived in St Kilda, Dunedin.
John died in 1937 and Lavinia died on 8 October 1903. They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
