Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Alice Cecilia Millichamp was born about 1863 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Millichamp, a saw maker, and Rebecca Miller. (See 173 Rebecca Millichamp)

She married Thomas Porteous Farra, a tinsmith, in 1887 and they had four children.

When Alice signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Dowling St, Dunedin.

Thomas died at their home 'Ribbonwood' in Castle St in 1915 and Alice died on 30 July 1928, they are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.

Alice C Farra was my grandmother. However transcription of her name from the petition has added an extra 'r' to her name.
